Description The function of the settlement and activity area at Borg II is still debated, but house remains and artefacts point to a single farm unit (House 1) with small activity areas like House 2 and 3. Could the size of the houses at Borg II and the artefacts found here, tell us about the use of the whole area at Borg and the changes from paganism towards Christianity? What kind of changes seem to happen at Sacred Heights at Borg? Excavation Details This area consists of three house remains: Borg II: 1-3. Borg II:1 is a longhouse about 20.8 x 6.3 m, typical in the period around AD 900. The two other house remains Borg II:2 and Borg II:3 measured 4.4 x 2.4 m and 3.3 x 2.0 m. House 1 and 2 could have been built at the same time. House 3 seems to be the oldest house in the settlement area at Borg II. Analysis from the house remains indicates an active settlement period parallel to the Chieftains house (Borg I). After the abundance of the Chieftains house, Borg II: house 2 is still in use (AD 1000). Access/Ownership References
