List of Sites
Skjerpen nedre: A number of grave-mounds.
Skjerpen øvre: A number of grave-mounds as well as a number of house dwellings are found. The site with its almost invisible wall-structures is hard to trace in the landscape. The Iron-age building technique is the reason why we are still able to see the remains today: The houses were built with an isolating outer wall of peat with a wooden wall inside. When the house collapses, the wall of peat still remains visible as a heap in the landscape.
Rolvsjord: Remains of an Iron Age farm, consisting of 4 longhouses, 50 grave-mounds as well as smaller fields. The area was investigated by archaeologists during the 1970s and 80s.
The area has a rather large amount of house-sites of the Iron-age type (the estimated number is 22), which is regarded as a large concentration compared with other areas.
